Hi, my name is Dr. Peters, and I am an Associate Veterinarian at North Powers Animal Hospital. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and playing Magic: The Gathering. At home I have five pets — three cats and two dogs. Remy is an 8-year-old super mutt from the island of Grenada in the West Indies, where I went to veterinary school, and Pax is a 4-year-old Boxer mix who would live in my pocket if he could. Botan is my 7-year-old tortie girl who lives to be sassy, Zabimaru is my 6-year-old rescue Bengal with the biggest and loudest opinions, and Grimmjow is my 1-year-old street-trapped, previously feral boy.
Favorite Part of My Job
I love seeing animals feel better. It is also rewarding to help owners better understand their pets' needs so they can take the best possible care of them at home.
Why I Chose This Profession
I grew up loving animals, with dogs at home and horses that I worked with from a young age. Combining my love for animals with my interest in science was a perfect fit, and it led me straight into veterinary medicine.
Education
I attended the University of St. Francis from 2011 to 2015, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biology. I then attended St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine from 2017 to 2021 and graduated with my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Professional Background
I especially enjoy performing surgery, and I find a great deal of meaning in helping aging pets maintain happy, comfortable lives.
Memberships
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).
Work History
I worked as a veterinary assistant near my hometown in Indiana both before and during veterinary school. In 2021, I moved out to Colorado and began practicing veterinary medicine. I have been part of the team at North Powers Animal Hospital since 2021.
